The Tamil Thalaivas have had a shaky season so far but their last win was a sign of better things to come. 2 last minute raids from Captain Ajay Thakur rescued the Thalaivas in their last game against the UP Yoddhas. The Thalaivas will now face the Patna Pirates. The Pirates are a tough team to predict in this competition, but there is no doubt that they remain one of the better sides in the running.

Pirates’ raider and Captain Pardeep Narwal is in the form of his life and on top of the individual scoring charts, a position he will be looking to strengthen. Supported ably by his partner in offence, Manu Goyat, the Pirates will try to catch out the Thalaivas using a heavy offensive strategy. Vijay and Jaideep in defence will be a difficult obstacle for the Thalaivas to overcome should they go into this match without a clear plan. The Thalaivas are still confident of their shot at the title and will be playing like they want it.

The Patna pirates have had a reasonably comfortable run in the competition. This is owed in no small part to the performances of Captain Pardeep Narwal, who is dominating the season. Manu Goyat is the perfect foil to Pardeep, and the two complement each other quite well to form a formidable offensive duo to opponents. Defenders Jaideep and Vishal Mane are predictably consistent while Vijay is rising star in defence. Recent performances will cause a selection headache, albeit a welcome one, to coach Ram Mehar Singh.

The Patna Pirates’ biggest cause for concern will be Thalaivas’ captain Ajay Thakur. A gifted raider, Ajay Thakur is on par with the best raiders in the league and can single-handedly change the outcome of a match with his nimble manoeuvres. His performance in the game against UP Yoddha will be a warning to the Patna Pirates to consider him a serious threat. In defence, young Thalaiva Amit Hooda is a definite asset, but his inconsistency is a worry to Thalaivas fans.

Despite the Thalaivas underperforming so far they are one of the wildcards in this competition due to their ability to grasp a win or draw from thin air. The Patna’s will need to approach this match with caution and not set up predictably to stun their opponents.
